Joy Blais L.Ac., Dipl. O.M., M.S.O.M.
Joy earned a Master of Science degree in Oriental Medicine from the Traditional Chinese Medical College of Hawaii in 2011. She is licensed in Oregon and Hawaii and is nationally board certified by NCCAOM in the areas of Acupuncture, Biomedicine, Oriental Medicine, and Chinese Herbal Medicine.
Since childhood, Joy has had a strong interest in healing, nutrition, and medicinal properties of herbs. She considers herself a life-long student of the wisdom of nature to reveal the path to balance. As a young girl she was an active volunteer at local animal hospitals and eventually became a veterinary technician for animal acupuncturist Dr. Ihor Basko for five years, before attending acupuncture school in 2007. She also spent several years co-hosting health related talk radio programs at the local Kauai, Hawaii radio station KKCR.
Since 2018, she has been studying under the guidance of her mentor Sharon Weizenbaum at the White Pine Institute. This graduate mentorship program is for licensed practitioners wishing to refine diagnostic technique and expand their use of classical Chinese herbal formulas for a variety of diseases. The program has offered additional opportunities to study with classically oriented doctors from China such as Dr. Yu Guo-Jun and Dr. Huang Huang.
In addition, she has studied Korean Sa-am acupuncture as taught by Toby Daly L.Ac. and has also completed an intensive course from the Pacific Center for Lifelong Learning in Dr. Qin Bo-Wei's classical precision prescription formulation as taught by Jason Blalack L.Ac.
